[avatar user="tonyw" /] These are based on Make a Guitar Pick Box on the Woodworking for Mere Mortals site. I used the hinge design and shape from the Mortal boxes. I moved the base magnet inside the wood (drilled a hole from that back that was eventually covered by the bottom). This way the base magnet isn't visible.  That may have been a mistake, they don’t close with as solid a “snap” as I'd like.

I made these for Christmas gifts in 2013. Both of my kids play guitar, so they each got one.  A good friend’s daughter, a co-worker's son and my guitar teacher each got one as well.  Now that I think of it, I should have made one for myself.

I used a photocopier to enlarge a guitar pick. I used this as a pattern for the bandsaw.

The bandsaw is a bit crude, final shaping is donw with a power sander.

[avatar user="tonyw" /] This easy to make candle set makes a great gift.  It's one of the few projects that I designed myself (most of my designs come from magazines or websites).  I used walnut and maple.  I suppose just about any contrasting wood would work.  Each piece was milled to 12 1/2" x 3 7/8" x 7/8".

After milling and glueing, I cut out the semicircles on the band saw.
